AFRICAN PEACE AND SECURITY UNION (APSU)

African Peace and Security Union (APSU) provides a critical foundation for holding governments, specialised agencies and regional mechanism accountable, ensuring good governance, and promoting all human rights, including economic, social and cultural rights.

APSU contributes to the protection and advancement of human rights and dedicated to building knowledge and skills about African Human rights among civil society actors. APSU also seeks to promote civil society participation in both African and International policy formulation and decision-making process

APSU advocate for inclusive security in restricted civic space in Africa. And in strengthening the laws, policies and practices that apply to civic space. 

APSU works towards empowering African civil society actors through increasing their awareness of international human rights standards, information and strategies as well as developing their capacities to engage effectively with the Human Rights system. 

APSU works to heal communities in conflict; give voice to the powerless; carry out research and monitoring; and assist vulnerable populations to claim their rights, including the right to development. 

APSU review governments, specialised agencies and regional mechanisms commitments toward Human Rights and Good Governance and compare that with the reality face by the population at grassroot level.
