AFRICAN PEACE AND SECURITY UNION (APSU)

 African Peace and Security Union (APSU) works towards the Promotion of the Culture of Peace by supporting education and Public awareness Programmes on the fight against the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons in achieving Peace, security, development, and stability in Africa. 

APSU also Strengthen CSOs advocacy capacity towards arms control and the global and legal binding treaty that regulates the international Trade in conventional weapons.

The African Peace and Security Union also advocates and lobbies the state parties to seek to reduce illicit arms Trade and illegal arms transfer as well as the control of the supply side of weapons.

The Peace and Security Union supports stats parties efforts in preventing and eradicating the illicit Trade in convention arms and to prevent their diversion in the illicit market or for unauthorised end use and end users including the commission of terrorist acts and violent extremists.

APSU also undertakes research that helps increase Understanding of the Gender impact of armed violence in the context of Arm Trade Treaty (ATT) and advocate for release of existing research and data sources to all interested stakeholders including Civil Society organisations
